The England manager Criticizes Wembley Crowd Support Following Emphatic Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel shared his sadness that the Three Lions team did not enjoy greater encouragement from the Wembley fans during their impressive friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

Tuchel was satisfied to see his squad continue their winning momentum, with finishes from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the first 20 minutes deciding the contest. Yet, he was displeased with the energy at the national stadium.

“We had limited sessions to prepare against a well-trained team and we excelled,” the coach commented. “It could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth goals. There was little noise. We didn’t get any energy back from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“How much more can you provide in 20 minutes? We prevented them escape. If you hear just Wales fans for 30 minutes, it’s regrettable because the team warranted more support today.”

“I stand by this statement. We cannot do more than leading 3-0 in a derby. I would have wished for a greater support in periods where it is challenging.”

“After halftime, to support us, there was excessive support for Wales. It might have aided us to recharge, but that’s football and that is it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Performance

Apart from potentially starting a dispute among fans, Tuchel also caused a stir by omitting Bellingham and Phil Foden from his squad. Yet the move was backed up by Morgan Rogers delivering another standout performance in the attacking midfield role and getting his maiden goal for his country.

“He is what he is,” Tuchel said. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is vying for his position.”

Bellamy Hopes for Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that Wales, who host a strong Belgian side in a key qualifying match on next week, take lessons from their poor performance in the opening period.

“This is why I scheduled this match,” Bellamy said. “I need to see our standing. Where do we want to go? What is our identity? Today gives me motivation.”

Injury Concern for Striker

Ollie Watkins was taken off at half-time after hitting a goalpost and may miss out when the national team face their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on next week.
