Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where enthusiasts can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed personally in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' everyday well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an iconic element of the series. And for players who pay attention to the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the show arriving in the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of challenges to earn additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the challenges will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems fans will also receive rims featuring a television displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new map of Springfield, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
