The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from the three-match ODI series facing India, as high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw getting a shock inclusion.
Labuschagne has been omitted from the one-day international squad following scoring just one run in his two batting efforts during the recent series against South Africa in August. He has a highest score of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI innings.
The 31-year-old has played 68 one-day internationals and amassed 1,871 ODI runs at an average of 34.64, but will now focus on earning a return to the Test side ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on November 21.
Labuschagne has shown signs of a return to form with 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw scored a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
He has played 14 Test matches with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also seeking a red-ball recall as Australia search for a answer to their batting top-order problems.
