Eddie Hearn Threatens Legal Action Targeting Chris Eubank Jr Over Disruption Allegations

Promoter Hearn has vowed to take legal action against Eubank Jr, following the boxer alleged his rival’s camp of using dirty tricks and deliberate disruption ahead of their highly anticipated second bout.

Claims Made by Eubank Jr

The boxer, who took victory in their initial fight by clear judges’ verdict, claimed that emergency transport carrying him to hospital after the bout was prevented from leaving for a significant period.

“Every effort was made in an attempt to undermine me in that previous bout,” Eubank Jr declared. “Contract breaches, financial penalties, rehydration clauses, disrupted pre-fight checks, biased commentary and refereeing. Their actions continues.”

He also claimed that his support staff were blocked from accessing the venue and that security personnel attempted to delay his entry on purpose.

Strong Denial

Eddie Hearn dismissed the allegations as “nonsense” and warned legal consequences unless Eubank Jr apologizes.

“He is unaware that we possess a log from the event, it’s there documented clearly,” the promoter stated.

He added, “He will be making an apology, otherwise we’ll be taking legal steps. These accusations very seriously. The company’s integrity is impeccable.”

Historical Context

This conflict involving the two boxers stems from a decades-old family rivalry starting in the late 1980s when their parents, Eubank Sr and Benn Sr, faced off in two epic matches.

Tribute to Ricky Hatton

At the media event, Benn paid tribute to recently deceased fighter Ricky Hatton, who was discovered deceased at his home aged 46.

“Hatton represented a figure who really supported me professionally and a person that took me in like a mentor,” the boxer stated. “I felt comforted during times without stability. He meant everything for my development.”

Preview of the Second Fight

The rematch, marketed under “Unfinished Business,” is set to take place come November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr will have new trainer Brian McIntyre supporting him, while Benn vowed to come back in better version than before.

McIntyre commented, “It’s likely this will be a little bit less challenging this time. Eubank has got his number.”

The younger fighter responded using a dismissive comment: “It’s amusing that you brought an additional coach , because he realizes you’re going to require the help.”
