Bondi Announces Investigation into President's Rivals and Epstein Connections
This past Friday, the Attorney General appointed interim US attorney Jay Clayton to head an probe into opponents of the President and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This move came shortly after the president ordered her to launch the probe.
In a statement, the Attorney General praised Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. The official remarked, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This action contrasts with a recent memorandum from justice department officials which stated that documents related to Epstein did not warrant additional investigations. According to the document, investigators “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”
Trump Calls for Focus on Political Opponents in the Epstein Matter
This news coincides with increasing pressure from Trump on congressional Republicans to block the full release of files concerning Epstein ahead of an key congressional decision next week. Several lawmakers are expected to back the disclosure.
Recently released communications from Epstein have brought attention to Trump’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, revealing information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.
